A current project requires that I expand on a passive ventilation system proposed as part of my architectural thesis more than 20 years ago. A double layer of external glazing with a ventilated cavity generates passive ventilation and I propose expanding on this to harness energy. My current calculations are proving positive and therefore it appears possible to produce a low technology active energy house. This development is in response to a clients requirement that their heat recovery ventilation system be manually operated and that it does not rely on computer technology. I am proposing this system to satisfy these requirements though propose computer technology not to operate the system but to enhance it thereby reducing the human factor.
The methods through which energy will be harnessed uses a variety of proven technologies.
